Joyland Film Screening + Panel Discussion: September 7, 2025

Join us for a community-led screening of the award-winning film Joyland on Sunday, September 7 at the Calgary Central Library Theatre (800 3 St SE). Doors open at 1PM and the screening starts exactly at 1:30 PM. This poignant story follows the youngest son of a traditional Pakistani family as he takes a job as a backup dancer in a Bollywood-style burlesque and falls for the strong-willed trans woman who leads the troupe. A powerful exploration of identity, desire, and family expectations, Joyland has captivated audiences worldwide. After the film, stay for an engaging panel discussion delving deeper into the themes of the movie. Don’t miss this thought-provoking afternoon of film and conversation!
