Send Prime Minister Trudeau a letter asking for accountability about residential schools in Canada6/2/2021 Content written by Evans Yellow Old Woman and Steven Crowchild. After the disturbing yet sadly obvious news about the remains of 215 innocent Indigenous children's bodies found at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, here is a letter template addressed to Prime Minister Trudeau, that everyone can use asking his government to commit to action. Please add your information and send it to his office. Help us flood his mailbox in order to hold our government accountable. We encourage you to mail a letter in, but if that is not possible you can send via email: [email protected].
The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, P.C., M.P. Prime Minister Office of the Prime Minister 80 Wellington Street Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2 To Prime Minister Trudeau, The discovery of the bodies of 215 innocent Indigenous children in a mass grave at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School is physical evidence of the genocide committed by the Canadian Federal Government against the Indigenous Peoples of Canada. This is the time for action and justice, no more empty platitudes and apologies without change. Justice must be served for these 215 innocent children and the countless other lives taken by the deliberate actions of the Canadian Government and Churches. The Federal Government of Canada has known of these atrocities not only through the work of Truth and Reconciliation, but because you have legislated and funded the institutions. It is the responsibility of this government to ensure the harm committed is amended. I am calling on the Canadian Federal Government to act now. We call on you, the leader of the Canadian Federal Government, to publicly commit to the following:
The Government of Canada can no longer deny the crimes of genocide committed against Indigenous Peoples. There can be no reconciliation without truth and action or it continues to be an injustice. Please do the right thing. Thank you,

There needs to be accountability from the politicians to stop the continuation of colonialism and erasure of Indigenous lives. Also give the land back!!

This is your opportunity to show regular Canadians what an appropriate response looks like! We are watching and hoping you will honour the needs of these families and residential school survivors all over the country.

A country that has hidden mass graves has committed genocide. Canada has committed genocide and the government must acknowledge this act.

Please do something about this horrible atrocity. As a Canadian citizen, I love Canada but the history and continuation of discrimination towards Indigenous peoples is beyond heartbreaking. I cannot believe Canada has done something like this. Please try your best to give the families who were hurt by this at least some sort of comfort!

It's not enough to talk pretty words and to appear "woke". Action is necessary. And as a settler on this land, there is no one to whom you have a bigger responsibility than to the Indigenous people of this land.

Canadian citizens and the Canadian Government had stood by and encouraged or witnessed the genocide of indigenous people for generations and generations. Even upon finding a mass grave with over 215 indigenous children, people have resorted in shifting the blame, being shocked by our dark “history”, or minimizing the terrible things that happened within these schools. The stories of the indigenous experience within Canada has been ignored for far too long. We must start amplifying and believing their stories and start the process of reconciliation. Reconciliation is about establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in this country. In order for that to happen, there has to be awareness of the past, an acknowledgement of the harm that has been inflicted, atonement for the causes, and action to change behaviour.

Those children and many more deserve and WILL find justice. They didn't deserve this.

We need to make reparations to all First Nations people. This is just horrific. Imagine if it was your five year old ripped out of your arms, taken away, sexually, physically abused, and other horrors then thrown in a mass grave. The church, the government need to pay.

Not only do we need to hold our federal and Provincial governments Present AND Past accountable, but also the Catholic Church. The federal governments funded the church to run these schools.Publish the Protocols set by the goverments set forth. The Catholic Church needs to accept and Acknowledge their Role .It is a disgrace to the Church that they still refuse to accept their role.In my opinion they are as responsible in the genocide committed by the "church" who preaches GOD's Love of all His Children when the mounting evidence of Their role in the TRUTH of the residential schools becomes "REAL. No more Bullshit. Stand up.
