In a statement today, Hon. Mélanie Joly said “our support for the ICJ does not mean that we accept the premise of the case brought by South Africa."
This is not surprising to anyone who is aware that Canada itself is an ongoing settler colonial entity that long abandoned their obligations to prevent racial violence and genocide at home or overseas.
True justice, liberation, and the pursuit of truth and reconciliation are not going to come from the establishment. Instead, these ideals are likely to materialize through the influential force of social movements and sustained efforts by individuals of conscience.
TAKE ACTION TODAY!
Tell Canada to uphold the ICJ Ruling & Stop Arming Genocide!
We need to make sure that the Canadian government feels overwhelming pressure to abide by international law. We need thousands of people to email and call their representatives and demand that they impose an arms embargo effective immediately.
